Woodcut and linocut are both relief printing techniques where the image is carved into a surface and then inked to transfer the image onto paper. The main difference between the two is the material used for carving the image. Woodcut involves carving the image into a block of wood, typically a softer wood like cherry or pine, while linocut involves carving the image into a block of linoleum, which is a softer and easier material to carve compared to wood. Additionally, woodcut can produce more texture and variation in line quality due to the natural grain of the wood, while linocut tends to have smoother and more consistent lines. **
