Passive euthanasia is allowed because it involves withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment, allowing the natural process of death to occur. This is seen as allowing the patient to die from their underlying condition rather than actively causing their death. Active euthanasia, on the other hand, involves taking a direct action to end a patient's life, which is seen as actively causing death and is therefore not allowed in many jurisdictions. The distinction between the two is based on the ethical and legal considerations surrounding the direct action of ending a life versus allowing a natural death to occur. **

It is illegal in many countries, while some have legalized certain forms of euthanasia under strict conditions. **

Proponents argue that it can be a compassionate and merciful act, providing relief from suffering for those with terminal illnesses or unbearable pain. However, opponents argue that it goes against the principles of preserving life and can lead to ethical and moral dilemmas. Ultimately, the debate over the humanity of euthanasia is deeply personal and subjective, and opinions on the matter vary widely. **

Those in favor of euthanasia argue that it allows individuals to have control over their own end-of-life decisions and can alleviate suffering. On the other hand, opponents of euthanasia raise concerns about the potential for abuse, the sanctity of life, and the slippery slope towards involuntary euthanasia. Ultimately, the decision on euthanasia is complex and involves ethical, legal, and moral considerations. **
