Yes, a receiver can still record TV shows without an HDMI connection to the TV. Receivers typically have their own internal storage or the ability to connect an external storage device, such as a USB drive or external hard drive, to record and store TV shows. The HDMI connection is primarily used for transmitting audio and video signals from the receiver to the TV, but it is not necessary for recording TV shows. **

To watch movies using an HDMI cable, you will need to connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your TV or monitor, and the other end to the HDMI port on your device, such as a laptop or DVD player. Once the cable is connected, switch your TV or monitor to the correct HDMI input using the remote control. Then, play the movie on your device, and it should appear on the screen. If the audio is not coming through the TV, you may need to adjust the audio settings on your device to output sound through the HDMI connection. **

The Wi-Fi connection may drop when the laptop is connected to the TV via HDMI due to electromagnetic interference. The HDMI cable and the TV can emit electromagnetic signals that may interfere with the Wi-Fi signal, causing it to drop. Additionally, the proximity of the TV and the HDMI cable to the laptop's Wi-Fi antenna can also contribute to interference. To mitigate this issue, try moving the router closer to the laptop and TV, using shielded HDMI cables, or connecting to the internet via a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. **

When using apposition, both commas and dashes can be used to set off the appositive phrase. Commas are more commonly used and create a lighter separation between the appositive and the rest of the sentence. Dashes, on the other hand, create a stronger break and can be used for emphasis or to draw attention to the appositive. Ultimately, the choice between comma and dash depends on the writer's preference and the desired tone of the sentence. **

A dash is a punctuation mark that is used to separate or emphasize information within a sentence. It is longer than a hyphen and can be used in place of commas, parentheses, or colons to create a pause or break in the sentence. Dashes can add emphasis, provide additional information, or set off a phrase for clarity or emphasis. **
