The west coast of the United States is warm due to the presence of the warm Pacific Ocean currents, such as the California Current, which bring warm water from the tropics. This moderates the temperatures along the coast, resulting in milder and more consistent temperatures. On the other hand, the east coast is influenced by the cold Labrador Current and the Gulf Stream, which bring cold water from the Arctic and warm water from the tropics, respectively. This creates more variable and often colder temperatures along the east coast. Additionally, the east coast is also more susceptible to cold air masses from the north due to its proximity to the polar regions. **
