Military alliances are formal agreements between two or more countries to support each other in the event of a conflict or attack. These alliances are typically formed to enhance the security and defense capabilities of the member countries, and to deter potential aggressors. Members of a military alliance often commit to providing military assistance, such as troops, equipment, or logistical support, to each other in times of need. Examples of military alliances include NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the Warsaw Pact. **

Examples of economic alliances include the European Union, NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). Through these alliances, member countries aim to strengthen their economies and enhance their competitiveness in the global market. **

Alliances are not accepted in Hearts of Iron IV (HoI4) because the game is designed to simulate the historical events and conflicts of World War II. Allowing alliances to be formed freely by the player would deviate from the historical accuracy and the strategic challenges that the game aims to provide. Instead, the game focuses on the historical alliances and rivalries that existed during the time period, and players are encouraged to navigate and manipulate these existing relationships to achieve their objectives. This adds an element of realism and historical authenticity to the gameplay experience. **
